Hi, It seems strange, but I was trying to install RB for intel x86 on a mac pro (intel xeon processors), then I pressed run. and a Visual works menu appears. I checked and repeated the download, removed the old RB, and run the program again, and the Visuual works appears again when opening RB. An there is no the RB window (start/stop,view, open in browser). I have no installed in my machine, in fact iRB is being installedon on MAC 10.5.4,fresh installation. Any idea about the problem? thanks a lot

Thanks. That's strange, I agree. Do you have a screenshot perhaps?

Okay, I wonder if this is related to something we've seen when running on Linux machines. Is it possible that either:
-Your computer or firewall is blocking port 8008 -There is some other software using port 8008 -Your account does not have proper permissions to open an IP socket
These are all possibilities when running Linux which is a flavor of Unix, and the Mac OS is also a flavor of Unix.
I'll try to think of other possibilities.

Thanks Carl,
I just reinstalled the sofware, the problem was the hostname. RB works in the mac os x server then it has defined correctly a hostname. when no hostname resolved then the machine uses 127.0.0.1, but RB doesnt run. resolving correctly the hostname makes RB to run correctly.
thanks a lot
