Forgive me if I have got the facts all wrong, as I have not been following this forum very closely. But as I understand it the great advantage of RB is that it should eliminate most of the risks in running programs while online. For example it is little wonder few visitors to sites such as mine are willing to try the EXE files online of LB or JB TKN files compacted with IEXPRESS supplied with Windows, or even use the renamed RUN403.exe files never knowing if they are safe. However to enable visitors to run RB files I understand the code etc must be available from a site 24 hours a day and requiring the author to leave his PC system on permanently, something very few of us would be willing to allow, especially for no financial reward.
Might I suggest as I have intimated before, if Carl and Shoptalk wish to make the future of RB really viable ,they should seriously consider arranging for a server and web space to be made to the likes of amateurs like me for a modest fee. Since there must be a massive amount of web space available in this modern age, while the size of most RB code can only be very small consisting of a few Kbytes, I would not imagine the cost of providing such a service need not be very high. For example I see at least one host is offering some 250Mb plus domain name for a mere £14 pa, whilst I double most of us would need much more that a very few Mb to accommodate our RB code.

I'm no expert but it is not as simple as supplying web space. Session management and bandwidth will be issues to deal with. We should expect to pay a little more.

Servers are not cheep specially when it comes to managing them. Perhaps Carl or a respected member of the LB & RB comnity could create a paypal account for just that. Peolple can donate money to keep the server going and for any matence that may half to be done.
People are welcome to use my server as much as they want however i do not have a domain only an ip.
Also dosent runbasic.com have a feature that tests code.
heres some html i got from runbasic.com and rewrote:
<form action="http://runbasic.com/seaside/go/runbasic" target="_BLANK" name="activeStuff" method="post"> <input name="7" type="hidden" id="hideCodeEditor" value="yes" /> <input name="8" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> </div><textarea cols="80" rows="15" name="13" id="code"><form action="http://runbasic.com/seaside/go/runbasic" target="_BLANK" name="activeStuff" method="post"> <input name="7" type="hidden" id="hideCodeEditor" value="yes" /> <input name="8" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> </div><textarea cols="80" rows="15" name="13" id="code">'declare css cssid #boxes, "{ padding: 4px; background: #EEF }" cssid #colorBox, "{ padding: 4px; background: #FCC; width: 100px; float: left; }" cssid #shapeBox, "{ padding: 4px; background: #CFC; width: 100px; }"
dim color$(2) color$(0)="red" color$(1)="green" color$(2)="blue" color$ = "green"

[showAll] cls graphic #area, 300, 200 html "<h2>Spirals, a Listbox demo</h2>"
div boxes div colorBox listbox #color, color$(), 5 #color select(color$) end div div shapeBox listbox #shape, shape$(), 3 #shape select(shape$) end div end div
cssid #specialText, "{ color: "; color$;"; font-family: ""Times New Roman""; font-size: 20pt}"
div specialText link #go, "Draw", [handleSelection] end div
print gosub [draw] render #area wait
[handleSelection] color$ = #color selection$() shape$ = #shape selection$() goto [showAll]
[draw] #area color(color$) #area place(150, 100) select case shape$ case "square" for x = 1 to 150 #area go(x) : #area turn(91) next x case "triangle" for x = 1 to 170 #area go(x) : #area turn(121) next x case "circle" for x = 1 to 510 #area go(x/30) : #area turn(9) next x end select return
</textarea> <br /> <div> <input name="_s" value="IEKoXEuWPqNUEgMU" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> <input name="_k" value="DcbFlWOt" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> </div> <input name="6" value="Run" type="submit" /> </form></textarea> <br /> <div> <input name="_s" value="IEKoXEuWPqNUEgMU" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> <input name="_k" value="DcbFlWOt" type="hidden" class="hidden" /> </div> <input name="6" value="Run" type="submit" /> </form>
i am not sure about the 2 hidden input tags at the bottom because runbasic.com usually generates them automatically

Thanks for the interest folks. Although I do have a few sites relying on Free space provided by my server, I along with many others I suspect would find it quite impractical to keep my PC switched on indefinitely on the off chance someone might wish to run my RB code. It does not bother me of course how often anyone visits my site to download any code. The last time I bothered to insert one of the free counters I am allowed, it showed only a handfull visited my main site per day.
But I would consider paying a small fee to have a few K of RB code hosted at a server though I doubt I would require more than 1 Mb or so.
