Due to the fact there's no free 30 day trials and the fact that it's $60 I'm going to ask if RB can do what I want first, otherwise it's going to be a waste of money as I only have one application idea at the moment. The idea; I have a small Symbol Micro Kiosk which is a Win CE based like PDA type computer with a barcode reader built in. Originally I wanted to write my code in JB/LB but these are unsupported app for Win CE, now apparently this unit comes with IE 6 built in. I want to make an automated shopping inventory maker. You buy stuff, you scan in, you scan out when you use it, you press a button at the end of the week it prints out a list, reasonably simple in JB/LB. The question; Because I know nothing about RB I'm not not sure whether it will do the job. The Micro Kiosk (MK) has IE so I'm assuming I run RB server on my PC tell the MK the IP address of the RB server and it'll run my RB program? RB doesn't appear to have a BUTTON? I assume I have to use underlined links? Timeouts, I read that the IE page will timeout after 60 secs, so my program will need to be refreshed of the page every 60secs? The barcode reader will enter the barcode information at the caret, which I will place in a textbox then automatically send a CR or basically press enter on the keyboard, does RB have the similar capability of the default button that a dialog window does? I'll have more questions but that's all I can think of now. Here's a LARGE pdf file if anyones interested PDF 4.92mbThanks for your input in advance.

I have WIN MOB 6 on an IPAQ. I hate to say it but for some reason the IE for hand held does not work with all RB apps. Might be a security option on the hand held? I hear FireFox is coming out with a browser for hand helds, we can only hope. In the meantime, you may want to look at this for writing apps that sit on the hand held www.caslsoft.com/

What happens when it doesn't work? Could you be more specific? -Carl I have WIN MOB 6 on an IPAQ. I hate to say it but for some reason the IE for hand held does not work with all RB apps. Sorry, should have gave examples. I am still trying to find ways around it.
Seems like when a value is to be returned like from a calculator, the value is not returned. Just a blank space.
But file access works. No problems here
open DefaultDir$ + "\count\countMain.txt" for input as #f LINE INPUT #f, cnt cnt = cnt + 1 close #f open DefaultDir$ + "\count\countMain.txt" for output as #f print #f,cnt close #f
Even my remote app works.
And I you try to use the IDE and run an app. the code space goes blank.
Like I said, most likely some thing in the security settings on the hand held.

Well thats not a great start for me! The MK unit only has 32meg free so I don't think FireFox install will be achievable.
This will be on a local network no WAN at all so all security could be turned off?
Could RB then be used just to pass details to a LB program running on the server PC?
I've tried casl but I could not even get it to run any of the samples!!!
I was hoping RB would be the solution as there's a chance I could make it work.
Perhaps LB 5 would work on WinCE?
Any thoughts on any of my other points?

The calcCSS example doesn't work? -Carl Correct. Looking at it some more it appears that the value from the text boxes are not being sent to the server. The answer is always zero except when division is selected. Then it returns a divide by zero warning.

You'd think that version of IE would behave like the desktop version. -Carl

That's a surprising bug. You'd think that version of IE would behave like the desktop version. -Carl I would not say it is a bug in RB. At the bottom of mackrackit.com I have a missing children banner, does not show up on WinMob6 IE. I hang out here a lot www.picbasic.co.uk/forum/index.php and the serch and quick links drop down does not work. They just reload the same page you started with. So the problem is with WinMob IE, NOT RB. That is why I am hoping the hand held version of Fire Fox will work where IE will not. To the OP. When I said "security", I was referring to the silly stuff built into windows, not network security. When you had problems with CASL, did you ask on that forum? Nice people over there too.
