Hello All,
When I found Runbasic back in 2012? I cant remember exactly when I discovered runbasic... but it really enabled me to write basic web applications, its got some bugs and issues but in general happy with it.
We were promised updates etc as liberty basic got updated but none have been forthcoming.
I still run it on an old windows 2012R2 server with SSL (or TLS cert as they are known nowadays), it still runs well and I have a couple of RB apps for friends to login for meeting notes and other stuff.
I just want to know has RB died? Has Carl (its creator) given up on it? Is Carl even still around? I dont know.
I just want to say hello anyone else out there still using it as we are a very limited number of people.
I always felt RB had great potiential for small / quick web app development even if just for proof of concept designs.
Take care folks

unfortunately cremated some time ago. There are constant cheeky remarks about RB2.0 from at least 2 protagonists that I know of on the LibertyBasic forum that persist in bringing the reincarnation up but it falls on deaf ears. libertybasiccom.proboards.com/post/14482 being just one of many. I guess Carl will eventually find the time to fix the bugs but some of us are running out of time, Shame really. I do have a need for a web-based application, however, my OS is LINUX and the 64bit system does not and has not run Rb32 for far too long.

Carl is currently focusing on the development of Liberty BASIC 5. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm just starting with Run BASIC, and it's *really close* to being just what I need for a few projects. I feel like the next update could wrap up a number of enhancement requests, and make the product incredibly useful for so many applications. It's great that SQLite is built in and integrated into the language, along with the XML parser.
It would be nice to have some of the standard operating system interfaces; for example, the ability to access DLLs in Windows would open up a *lot* of additional functionality. Some of this I can accomplish by SHELLing out to a program written in another language, but capturing the results is clunky and rickety at best, and has terrible performance is one needs to do much of it. I realize the quagmire this would create, because it would be operating system-specific, but its omission sets a pretty hard limit on what can be accomplished. (Of course, this would automatically bring in STRUCTs too, which I would dearly like to have...)
I realize that Carl is putting most of his effort into LB 5 at the moment, but are there any plans for a new update to Run BASIC? I sure hope so!!! ~~

tyer ... Since yours is a recent post and you are just starting with Run BASIC, can I ask where you purchased it? It looks like something that might work for me but it also looks like it is defunct.

I can no longer find a download link from Carl nor any mention of purchase price anywhere. It's been suggested his new job is keeping him busy. Shame for all those that spent countless hours developing commercial applications. Hopefully Carl retires in my lifetime to kick start it again.

I have major applications in RB. I'm slowly converting to PHP. However along the way, I ran across SpiderBasic. It looks really interesting. It basically converts basic like code to javascript. JS runs in the browser so it frees up the server a lot. It's new and has growing issues, but I like it. You can write code in their IDE and run it as you developed. It is a off shoot from PureBasic so it has solid support. I've been using PureBasic to run some of my RunBasic stuff. But for me personally, I'll stick with PHP. I don't have a lot of trust in Carl, after he abandoned RB and let everyone standing. If he brings RB back, do I trust him. He needs to turn it over to PB or someone we can trust.
