I've seen some recent discussions about expanding the upload feature to a widget and the suggestions posted seemed good to me.
On the flip side of that, I am in need of allowing clients to download files from the server. One live project I have generates data files to be used for printing variable barcodes. While it is easy enough to create a list of sequential numbers in Excel, the data files I am generating inlcude a check digit based on one of the many mod formulas out there (MOD10 ADSRT10, ADRSD10, MOD11MSI, etc.). The user currently enters a name for the file, the amount of numbers they want in the file, the number of digits, the starting number and the type of check digit. The program then generates a data file (filename.dat) which I then have to email to the user or move to a shared drive that has common access (This is all being done over a local network which covers 16 mfg. facilities throughout the US).
My hopes are this is a feature that can be added to RB sometime in the future. Ideally the user would enter the name they want for the file, I could determine where it is saved on the server and then ultimately, a link or button would allow them to download to wherever they wanted on their PC. The download link would need to allow for variable names (filename$) which would match up to the name they created.
In the meantime, I threw this simple test together just to have some sort of option right now. If someone has a better way to achieve what I need, please share how to do it.

open "d:\test6.dat" for output as #d
for x = 1 to 10
print #d,x
next x
close #d
html "<a href='d:/test6.dat' target='_new'>Right Click and select ""Save Target As..""</a>"
print:print:print
button #quit,"Quit",[quit]
wait

Print "Done."
