RunBASICnet.com, by HyText Consulting (Jerry Muelver) in collaboration with Shoptalk Systems (Carl Gundel), is now available for hosting your Run BASIC applications on the web. Accounts with a Run BASIC server and a static URL start at $10/month, in 6-month subscriptions. This is a new venture, a journey into uncharted waters, so please expect some course adjustments in the initial months of operation. If you would like an account, but cannot pay through PayPal's credit card processing service, please send me a PrivateMail message for account sign-up accommodations.

FAQ #1 - Okay, I've followed the link and made the $60 payment via PayPal. Now what? How do I set up my runbasic.net account? FAQ #2 - Is it possible to upgrade from the Starter Package to the Developer Package within the 6 month time frame? I'm psyched! Thank you SO much, Jerry! Janet

Janet, I've sent you an email asking what subdomain name you want to use. As soon as I get that, I'll set up the account. You can upgrade any time you want, and get credit for any months left on your subscription toward the upgrade. Thanks for the questions. Now I can get started on the FAQs page!

- If I buy the Run BASIC Net package, does this mean I don't need to buy a copy of Run BASIC Personal Server ? @+ No, you don't need to unless you decide you want to host Run BASIC on your own server. Then you will need to purchase a license from www.runbasic.com-Carl

Just signed up! I can not wait to try it out. Never used a windows server before. Neither have I! I'm a Linux-Apache-Perl kind of guy. It's been a real education, so far, just figuring out the server and user account structure. We've got it working, now, but it's going to need some tweaking. Remember Muelver's First Law of Programming -- As soon as you've got your first prototype working, throw the whole thing away and start over from scratch, rebuilding it to incorporate the lessons learned from the first attempt.

I don't know what each of these categories mean now that I have purchased the Personal License. What are the Starter and Developer packages. The Starter seems to be well defined, but except for references to a 'Developers package', I can find no explanation of what it is.. Also, it confusing to me how these packages relate to one another. Please tie this together for me.

"Personal" license is for your own copy of RB, from www.runbasic.com, which you run on your own computer. "Starter" package is the name of the initial offering by RunBASICNet.com. This is for a hosted web site running an RB server in each account. It's a way for you to get RB applications out for access on the internet, useful if you can't or won't run your own computer open to internet access. "Starter" and "Personal" are independent. Having one does not require, or entitle you to, the other. "Developer" package will be an advanced offering at RunBASICNet.com, like "Starter" but with a separate Domain Name for each account, and other yet-to-be-determined features and options. This package is not yet available. Let us know if the above explanations need more detail.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have a lot to learn before I am ready for either Starter or Developer. John
