You bet, Mike. Open the RBP helpfile... not the one telling you how to use the server. You'll want rbhelp.html. At the top of the page, on the right side, you'll find the tutorial lists as links.

Thanks Alyce, but my rbhelp.html does not have anything on the right side of the page. The doc build version is 2.32m and the RB personal server version is 2.32p Looks like the correct docs have gone AWOL. I thought for a while that you and I were 'singing from different songsheets'. You have mentioned things I have been unable to find.
The Quick start guide does not have any version info.
Maybe reinstalling RB will give me the correct docs.
Mike.

Mike, Don't run the helpfile by double clicking rbhelp in the rb directory. In the RB browser, click the Help tab, then access by rbhelp file from the link on that page. This link must go to an online updated helpfile. Janet

Thanks Janet, when I click the Help tab and then the Run Basic Help File link, it takes me to the local help file ( shows the link as localhost:8008/docs/rbhelp.html ) It was following these links that led me to the build 2.32m help file. Something has gone awry with beta 5 installation it seems.
Mike.
Edit: Uninstall/reinstall corrected the problem, I now see the correct docs! When Alyce referred to 'the docs' whilst compiling Building Blocks, she was seeing different docs. I am on the same wavelength now.

I added If/Then. Boy, do I appreciate that folks fix the errors in these blocks, and add appropriate content. Wikis are great.
It looks like we need an article on boolean evaluations, too. Putting too much of that into the "if/then" building block defeats the purpose of making very small, focused explanations.

This has been pretty useful. I started with the stuff that seemed new or different in RB from LB. Eventually, the more ordinary stuff was all that was left. (Except for the xmlparser stuff... haven't gotten to that, yet.) I didn't think there was much to "do" in the ordinary commands, assuming they'd work the same way. I was wrong. Testing and documenting stuff like for/next, select case, if/then, etc. has turned up some inconsistencies, some differences from LB, some bugs and some errors in the helpfile. Most were very trivial, but it adds up... giving ME a better understanding of RB and helping Carl fix bugs and clarify stuff for us.

I believe that better docs are in the plans, but until that time you can download the entire wiki content so it's available to you on your desktop. On the wiki, navigate to the Manage Space page and choose to "Export Space as HTML " in a Zip file. runbasic.wikispaces.com/space/aboutThe Building Blocks document ALL of the statements, functions and methods. They are explained in more detail than is done in the current RB help document and each contains snips of runable code so you can see exactly how to use them. Use online, or download and use on your desktop. Thanks to all of those who have been adding content in the form of scripts, tips and sample programs. And thanks especially to Jerry for creating and organizing the wiki. How fitting that a web-based programming language spawns a web-based collaboration of info.

Unfortunately Wikispaces is no longer operating as a service and the space is gone.

Alyce, excuse my 'blindness' but I can't find the tutorials you refer to. Can you point me in the right direction please? TIA Mike. I think Alyce was referring to the RHS of this page www.runbasic.com/docs/rbhelp.html

Unfortunately Wikispaces is no longer operating as a service and the space is gone. Did anyone grab a copy of the wiki before it closed? I'd love a copy if it's available. Jerry
