In the next couple of weeks we are going to bring this beta testing round to a close and start selling Run BASIC. It doesn't have every feature that I wish it would have for an initial release, but then as those things go it never will. I am going to work hard to market RB. I am going to post announcements on newsgroups. I am going to put out at least one press release. I will probably buy some Google Adwords. I am going to cross promote Run BASIC in the LB and JB communities. I am going to send email to everyone who has ever asked me about Liberty BASIC or purchased LB. Now, I am also going to solicit each and everyone here to help promote RB. If you think RB is worth promoting then please consider: -telling your friends and colleages -blogging about it -linking to it -hanging out in the basic and web related newsgroups and forums and talking it up -writing a letter to the editor of a magazine or ezine -insert your own idea here Thanks for your help, and I hope that we can build a large and thriving community around Run BASIC. -Carl

Just yesterday I was emailing Dean Hodgson about RB. (I'm sure you remember him, Carl... from waaaay back!) He sounded very interested.
I haven't had so much fun with a new programming language since... well, I learned LB more than 10 years ago. You KNOW I'll be spreading the news. I think I need to put a link on my website...

You know I'll be promoting the heck out of this thing. I really like this stuff! For just about everything but e-commerce (even that could be done with a server-side helper app), RB is miles ahead. Once a community starts to develop, and some code gets shared, I have no doubt we're going to be making very cool web apps. So far, I've gotten some interest from some non-programmer friends who do some web development. Some of my other friends are looking to get started with web dev, so I'll be sure to indoctrinate them with plenty of RB material. Perhaps most positively, a professional web developer in Australia who I know via a non-programming forum is very enthusiastic about RB. I believe he said that RB "knocked both [PHP and ASP.NET's] socks off", or something to that degree. One thing that would greatly help is a book from one of the major companies - Wiley or Sam's, perhaps. A "Run BASIC for Dummies" sort of book, in bookstores across the country (and on Amazon) would be a huge publicity-getter. I actually had a draft table of contents done up in OOo Writer, but I seem to have misplaced it. Hmm...

It's a web-based language that you can run on your own server, easily write programs using BASIC, and serve the resultant apps to your network. It even has built-in SQlite. If you are interested in beta testing, send an email to carlg@libertybasic.com" Maybe written by a nationally know web-developement writer who has written books on J++ and Perl? If only we knew such an individual... and if only he were enthusiastic about RB...

Will the XML parser make it into the first release? You talked about it on your blog back in July:
With HTTPGET$() and an XML parser, it will be easy to consume web services.

Added a bold link on the main page at my site.
In addition to creating an RB board at Programmer's Haven forum, I posted a message at the Coding Monkey's forum in response to one of Carl's messages about RB.
