One of the cool side effects of hooking up Run BASIC to the web is that you have instant file sharing at no additional cost. So now it's easier than ever to share... screenshots... or whatever it is you legally distribute over the internet. Like copyrighted music, err, pictures of your dog/cat/baby sister.

I like to use it as a file server; I just put anything I want to be able to get later in the public folder, and I made a program to upload stuff, too.

This is exactly what I'd like to achieve ! I have used LB for a couple of years now and just bought Run BASIC which I've never used before. Could you give me a few hints on how to make a program to share files (in my case photos) and let people upload stuff ? do you use FTP ?
Thanks,
alix

Alix, no need for FTP. See the uploadtest project in the sample projects collection. Also take a look at the organizer project, to see how to built an application manager, so folks can choose which or your creations to run.

You cannot do this. You can open the file from its default upload location, load it into a string, open a new file in your desired folder (creating it with mkdir if it doesn't exist) and write the info to the new file. Then kill the original file.

I hesitated to ask for yet another new feature, since you were trying to fix bugs and get RB out the door. It would be fantastic!

Don't let me stop you. A modification to Run BASIC itself is at least weeks away if not further. -Carl

I intended to write a program to move uploaded files and this has spurred me to do it. It's very simple to do. I was waiting because MkDir hadn't been added to the language when I first wanted to accomplish this. The demo is here: runbasic.wikispaces.com/UploadAndMoveOf course, after Carl adds the ability to set an upload directory in RB preferences, this won't be necessary.
