Hi,
I know you can make your Run BASIC application available over the internet. But what if you have a customer that only needs the application to run local? For example: If I write a quiz/exam program that only has to run within the school, how could I distribute this? I'm sure it's not allowed to put the complete Run BASIC package in the installation. Could create a way to get some kind of compiled Run BASIC server that only runs with your own designed application?
thanks! Marco

The Personal Edition needs to be installed on one of the servers in your school to make your application available, it is not designed to make distribution packages, that's why it is Personal

If someone wants to create an application for sale (or for free) that requires a copy of Run BASIC for each installation then either one copy of Run BASIC will need to be purchased for each installation or some licensing terms will need to be worked out. -Carl Gundel

Okay, thanks for your answers!
Now I know what to do if I've made something for a school or some other institution. I'll contact you to see if we can set up some kind of license agreement when one of my projects is ready.

One of the benefits of RB is that it does not require any installation on multiple computers for people to run your program. If the students computers are networked to your RB server, then they should be able to run your program and view it in their web browser.
Here is a link to an app I made:
http://localhost:8008/seaside/go/runbasicpersonal?app=myCounters
I think you could just replace localhost with the name or IP address of your RB server. Then it will appear that the students are running your app locally. It will actually be running on the server.
I'm not sure what kind of security issues that you may run into with this simple scheme. I would make sure that my file sharing is turned off, at the very least.
Does this help?
