Hello all, I am considering purchasing the personal server, however I have a few questions that I hope can be answered before.
I noticed that the latest freely available version is 1.01, but according to the forum notices, there is no new version since 2008. Contrary to that, the runbasic.com site says the latest is 2.27, while the free version says 2.44. If there is a newer personal server, what are the differences between the free and the latest personal server edition?
Some technical questions: 1. Part of interactive web programming is handling sockets (tcp/udp). Is there a way to accomplish this in RB? 2. Does RB support dynamic linking/shared libraries (dll, so, etc)? 3. Is there a way to parse json? 4. Using native RB commands, what HTML compliance can be expected? (html 4/5, xhtml, etc)? 5. Is RB reliable when serving thousands of users at the same time? This would be quite important to know, if RB is used in a commercial environment. 6. Does RB's server support SSL?
Thanks in advance, Erion

I'm running personal server v1.01, build 2.44, which I believe is the latest version.

Find the answers below:
1) direct access to sockets is not implemented 2) external library support is not implemented 3) you can write your own parser 4) I think it is HTML4, but you can check the created HTML code easily 5) the official RB home page runbasic.com is served from a simple PC in Carls home 6) behind Apache this should be possible, since Apache will handle SSL

Hello, Thank you very much for the answers everyone.
For now, RB sadly does not seem to meet my requirements. The lack of updates (at least one per year would be nice) is also quite discouraging. There are numerous areas where RB needs improvement but these have not been addressed for almost five years, while the web is changing constantly. I really hope that this project will not become abandoned and that one day, after some improvement, I will be able to support it with a purchase!
Once again, thank you very much for the replies, they are really appreciated!
