So, while I have been heads down tring to put together RC1, what have all of you been doing?
Projects? Progress? Blocking issues?
-Carl

I'm looking to rewrite the RunWiki program to require password for editing, and give separate editor and reader views of the pages, as a step towards an intranet and/or K12 RBwiki-based CMS. Only just starting, since I've got some some honing to do on my SQL skills first. I'm also doing some comparison-shopping among publishing and ebook delivery services, in preparation for mining the RB docs and wiki for a "Using Run BASIC" programming book and Moodle-based (or RB-based -- see previous paragraph) tutorial course.

Adding short practical demos for checkbox and radiogroup to RB wiki and it was pleasing to find that handle variables are still functional! Mike.

Jerry... wow.
Mike, cool! I hang my head in shame for abandoning the Building Blocks. I've started a block for Select Case and I hope to move forward with more of those this week. I was dragging my heels, because stuff like "if/then" and "select case" doesn't really need checking and documentation... except I'm finding that it DOES. Select Case works a little differently in RB than in LB. Every command needs to be tested as fully as possible.
Other than that, I'm waiting for the promised table row returned when a table link is clicked on before I can continue with my pet project. Also, the ability to specify a branch label when a table link is clicked on... now it must be a sub event handler.
Kind of wishing for some sort of timing, and/or trapping of keyboard and mouse events, but I'm guessing Carl doesn't want to add new stuff at this point.

Until you see us adding Ajax-related features that won't be in there, and honestly I'm not even sure how to do it yet. Perhaps some javascript-guru will have some ideas about how to inject that capability using the HTML statement. -Carl

Sorry I haven't been testing. Work's forced me into PHP/Perl mode.

I've been following Alyce's recommendation from a while back and have been working the example programs -- learning RB's new features and looking for problems.

have been working the example programs -- learning RB's new features and looking for problems. Me, too. I reported a difference in Select Case from Liberty BASIC's implementation, down on the beta test board. For/Next appears to work properly and has been added to the Building Blocks. I'm looking forward to Carl's XML parser tutorial in the helpfile, as well as the tutorial for handling objects.

The docs for SELECT CASE are corrected, and a proper syntax error happens now when SELECT CASE is not followed by an expression of some kind. -Carl

hey Carl, all,
Just getting back from a month-long coding vacation... I highly recommend that if you get the chance; you'll get a lot more clarity when you start coding again. Anyway, I've got a couple ideas that I'm doing some specs for, including what I'm calling #lib_js (which is basically a library of Javascript functions) and a Mad Libs game.
In case any of y'all don't know what Mad Libs is, it's basically a game that lets you create your own story by filling in the blanks with your own words. The catch is, you're not supposed to look at the story - only what sort of words you need, like nouns or verbs.
I'm really looking forward to RC1 so I can get coding! (the said code vacation involved uninstalling all my programming tools, including RB and Liberty, FYI)

Welcome back, Bill. I use Mad Libs for teaching, from the third grade on up. RB would be a great tool for doing a Mad Libs game!
