I'm teaching 2 kids programming, and I was wondering if it would be nice if they could buy RB Personal and make a business website and peddle their games there? Is that a good idea?

well what do you mean with business? for example if they want to have a general site where the users could check for their content or play/download some content, make payments, etc. it works fine. ;D
if for business you mean an ERP, I think someone was working with an ERP in RB...

First of all as a teaching platform I don't think you can do much better (in my unbiased option). I think that Run BASIC can be an excellent platform for a business site. For example one of the things that you can easily do using Run BASIC is A/B testing. You can make pages appear with variations and then track which variations are most effective to get your visitors to the download or ordering pages for example. And Run BASIC will only get better for this kind of thing. For example I am shooting to make it easier to build SEO friendly applications in RB. -Carl

RB stands for Run BASIC, so they are the same.
The personal edition is licensed to one person.
Since RB 1.01 there is a free edition available too, which does not include the server.

I hope this hard to understand licensing stuff won't scare businesses away. (Think MP3, Microsoft)

I hope this hard to understand licensing stuff won't scare businesses away. (Think MP3, Microsoft) Hi, Run BASIC is currently available in two formats. 1) Run BASIC Free Edition - This version can be used for any personal or business purpose. It doesn't support serving applications, but you can learn Run BASIC programming and use it to develop applications that you start with the Run button. 2) Run BASIC Personal Server - Perhaps this should simply be called Run BASIC Standard Server. This version can also be used for personal or business purposes, and it includes the ability to serve applications on a local network or over the Internet. There will also be a Pro Server license. This will simple add more professional level features to Run BASIC like: -support for MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc. -better debugging features. -code versioning and differencing -improved editing -more stuff (suggestions welcome)! What other licensing questions do you have? -Carl
