Hi, at the moment the program is near 1500 lines (1446 lines), so I am wondering if a limit of code lines or code text exists in RB memory . Today everytime that I tried to rerun a program, RB set the session as expired, asked me for a username and password. I press run, full screen, exit the program and press run again at the moment, and it asked me for the username/password, also happens when I was trying to reload the program. the log shows loggedin/session expired at 1 secons of distance. my session timeout is 3600 secs. It happens also in different browsers./opera-firefox/ I ussually edit the program in an editor and reload the file in RB, but those errors didnt happen before. As I checked today for disk permits in the mac, then I renamed the rb101 directory name, installed rb in new rb101 directory and restored the files, and the problem continues. More of that: I did a new fresh installation, and ran a print time$() line, wait something and worked ok, then I copied/pasted the program from the editor, without saving it in RB, then ran the program only, exit program immediately and press run again immediately... the result is the windows requesting the username/password. I save the file and the same problem happens. so, it should be related to the size of the program, there is no another added or attached file in this new installation. then I set the password to blank and the same window was shown. If I run the program in the free version, when I rerun the program the text 'stop this proram and rerun' appears and the program runs well if I press ok. How to avoid that RB request username/password every time that I press run or reload big files in RB personal server (mac)?, how could I expand that limit in RB? repeating it more than one hundred times everyday is not funny any idea? thanks a lot

I wonder if this has something to do with daylight savings time. When this this start to happen?

Hi Carl,
mhmm, It has a couple of days that the problem started, at first I was thinking that my session was expired after a couple of minutes -2 or 3 minutes- , as I was switching between the fre version and the server version I didn't realize there that the session timeout of 3600 seconds was not applied.
but yesterday I had to make a lot of tests and test it constantly and I realized then that the session timeout appears constantly.
by the way, the time format recored in the error log is GMT and not the current system time,...maybe it is related.. 127.0.0.1: seaside GET /seaside/go/runbasicpersonal -> 200 text/html Fri, 20 Mar 2009 06:02:45 GMT
thanks a lot

hi, maybe it is not related, because: a)I increased the session limit from 3,600 to 36,000 and to 360,000 secs and the same problem happened. (10 hours and 100 hours.. enough to compare for any difference withGMT times) b) I ran another program like the blog, and ran it and exit and re-ran it with out problem, it asked me to continue, ok. b) then I reloaded the program with those 1446 lines and then the program started immediately. so, it should be size of the program or the code that is causing it, but i dont have an idea how to write some RB code to create this problem... the size of the program is 50,634 bytes.
c)it asked me for the password when I pressed to open a program, then after entering the password the rb screen appears but without text, then I entered again the reload, gave username/password, then it loaded now the program, then I pressed run and it requested me again the password , exit, then run again and it asked me again the password.
visualworks memory is near a gb, and the browser is near a gb.

If you restart RB and then your program is it consuming near a gigabyte of memory right away?

i checked at detail now: starting rb personal server. console -> launch in browser-> where it says username/password... visualworks: 32.26mb rsize, vsize:840mb, loading and runing the program: it seems that it does not grow in size: visualworks: 32.26mbr size, vsize:840mb, safari 157mb rzise, vsize 975mb What is really strange is that rb loads and run the program correctly in the free version: in the free version if I press "run" again the "stop this program and re-run it " text appears, and it runs ok. And that text ( "stop this program and re-run it ") is not being displayed in the rb personal server version for this program. so, I think I will edit and preview this program in the rb free version... ;D

On the Preferences tab, do you have the "Save timestamped copies of BAS files:" option turned on? If so you should have old versions of the program in the project's folder. If you go back in time to an older version that you know works, does that fix it?

What is really strange is that rb loads and run the program correctly in the free version: If you install a new copy of the paid version in a new folder and use that to host your program, does that work? -Carl

Wait, this only happens after the run the program successfully once? Then you try to run it again and it does this?

Hi, for your questions: 1)I ran the timestamped file, but the problem appeared again. 2)yesterday I installed a copy of the new version twice , in one I only copied the code of this program, and ran it. the error appeared. 3) Yes, It seems that the error appears only after I run this program successfully once . Then I try to run it again and it does this.

pd. the error sometimes appears directly after I press "exit full screen mode" ( when I am running for the first time this program and want to quit the program).

I just ran the code in a new installation of RB , and a usual visualworks error appeared in the console, I dont kow if it is related:
[418] is the pid of Visualworks:

Hi, I made a test, on a different computer than the MAC PPC. I installed the RB101 in a mac intel and copied the RB project to that computer. When I press re-run it asked me the username/password...
