Well, my code starts exceeding a few pages, what makes coding and especially bughunting in the online editor a real pain... no line numbering no syntax highlighting etc.... So I was searching for a good offline editor, that allows me to create custom syntax highlighting and launching the code in custom external apps. What I found was Notepad++. Really neat and usefull..... (check it out at notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm)And now, this is where Carl needs to get in again. This would need some sort of connector, so that we can open and launch the code directly in a RB browser. Notepad++ already allows me to open the RB window by just using this link in the "run" option "http://localhost:8008/seaside/go/runbasicpersonal?_s=uBSihOCyikRylREn&_k=wpHHfHBr". But of cause, this just opens the normal online editor, without filling in code or automatically launching the app.... and it requires an active session, else the login requesters comes up first. So, the connector would need to automatically log in, to avoid the login, then hand over the code to the online editor and finally run the code. Aditionally the online editor needs to give out a line number if an error occours, else bughunting will still be a pain. I know I'm currently filling the board with a lot of requests and stuff..... just trying to make RB more usefull. So anyway, maybe this can be realized sometimes in the future!?

Three offline editors, written for RB are listed here: runbasic.wikispaces.com/OfflineEditorContestIf you don't want the Liberty BASIC source code version, an executable version is listed as well. Just download and unzip and run. I realize that this won't help if you are writing online, but if you have the next RB beta and you have RB installed on your pc, you can open RB, open the same code in the offline editor, and when you've made changes, you can "refresh from disk" to update it in the RB editor.

Sound good so far.. but still.... the workflow is really bad, if you always have to click several buttons like saving in your editor, refreshing files in RB before you actually can run the file when any other editor can do the same by just hitting F5.... so I'm looking for a way to get this done for RB, too.... Unless the online editor just gets a bit better... line-numbering, syntax highlighting and error messages including the line number should be possible... don't even need stuff like autocomplete or automatic jumping to the line in the code where an error occoured.... (but a search function to locate stuff in the code would be helpfull, too) Anyway I love RunBasic.... it just needs to get a bit more usable. Unfortunatily I do not have the current Beta.... Would like to test it... But don't know where to get it!? Please feel free to send me a download link.
