RunBASICnet.com now has a one-month trial package, so you can get your Run BASIC apps on the web to see how it all works. This is not a freebie, but it's pretty close to that -- there is a $5 USD fee to be paid via PayPal credit card processing, so we know you are a serious potential subscriber. You get your own RB server, running in a RunBASICnet subdirectory with your own account name. See runbasicnet.com for the one-month trial link.

Jerry,
Where are you hosting your server(s)? I checked out your main website (which looks pretty good, BTW) and didn't see any information on hosting, backup schedules or security.
Regards,

David, the dedicated server lives in San Diego, at cari.net
I back up prefs.xml files for every account manually, on a daily basis. Security is the standard Run BASIC variety -- change your login access to your own requirements. The server software is Windows 2003. What would meet your requirements?

Hosting at cari.net is great. You may want to mention that in your FAQ. My main question was whether your server is in a real datacenter or in your home office. I am working on an application for deployment later this year and I was looking at a 1&1 VPS. With your service, I now have an easier and cheaper option. Are there defined limits for memory, disk space and network usage? Thanks,

The only limits for memory and disk space we've defined are those that RB needs. No per-account limits yet, until we run into a performance-hogging situation of some kind. I'm monitoring the performance logs to see how the system is handling the load. We're running 2Gig of RAM over 200Gig disk space at the moment, and should be good for another 50 accounts or so on this setup. We can go up to 16Gig of RAM if needed. I can add domain servers and remote backup when we have enough subscriptions to cover the additional $100/mo cost, but I'm not eager to do that until we reach breakeven (another 5 subscribers) since the whole thing is being run out-of-pocket at the moment.

Thank you E.K. We have a holiday weekend here, which is holding things up a bit. We want to get the RB 1.0 Release Candidate installed and tested before setting up new accounts. So please give me a day or two to get that rolling.

We want to get the RB 1.0 Release Candidate installed and tested before setting up new accounts. Hope you are not going backwards, since the released version of RB 1.01 is really good

What if you pay 5 bucks for the trial and then decide to hold off on the package for a while. Do your files get deleted?
Also, what if you build a website and it doesnt get any visitors and then you decide to launch a new website later...you would have to pay 60 bucks for the second experiment.

1) No, not right away. I'll keep them around for 90 days or so. 2) Yes. The one-month trial is a one-time thing.

Jerry As you know I've got my own server but since you've got this working I was wondering, if I have a page on my domain on my server, can I link to my stuff on your server through my domain?
For instance, you'd find a page at 1lttleworld.net and on it is an application linked to your machine.
