I was thinking of these illuminating words from Carl in "parent child" thread: Hey Jerry, That quote from Carl got me thingking about the problem. So I decided to setup an experiment. I was able to reproduce the exact same behavior on my server. I modified the code a bunch of different ways and I've narrowed it down to the input statement. Seems to me that "input" behaves differntly when called from another program. The original works fine in the console or the browser as long as it's not being called.. I have a version with all the input's removed, substituting them with textbox. It works perfectly. Food for thought...

Thanks for the analysis, Jack! That's valuable information, and gives us a precise target for scrutiny. When Alyce finally wakes up (warm, sunny South, not the sub-zero icy North I have here) today, she'll be deighted to see that a solution is at hand.

So, I had the bad idea to select THREE programs that rely heavily on the INPUT statement? Rather than change all of those programs, I believe I'll change my main page to include simple links, rather than attempting to run them with the RUN statement.
Thanks, everybody.
(I still wonder why this all worked just fine with RB1.0, and is broken for RB1.01?)

(I still wonder why this all worked just fine with RB1.0, and is broken for RB1.01?) We may find out, when they get the power in Carl's neighborhood reconnected....

I hope Carl hasn't lost power, or that he gets it back quickly if he's in the dark. Run BASIC GamesThe site has been fixed... I hope. The main page has links to the games. Each game has a link back to the main page when it finishes. Whew. Thanks VERY MUCH to all who helped me sort this out!

Thanks for the help! I'm glad this was figured out.
I actually discovered the very same bug myself over the weekend, but I didn't connect it to that Alyce was doing.
It seems like I need to encourage people to use the release candidates more. We probably would have caught some more things and fixed them for the final release.

Probably when I was fixing one bug, I created another. Been there, done that. Got a closet full of T-shirts! I wasn't available to do much testing, and I know the value of testing software during beta cycles. I don't think this particular bug would have surfaced until I tried it online, and since that required Jerry's update to runbasicnet.com, I wouldn't have found it during the testing phase. Perhaps for the next update, we can convince Jerry to give us a beta testing area on runbasicnet.com. (He hardly has anything else to do, I'm sure! )
