Just a heads up to those wishing to help promote Run BASIC. A very popular and busy message forum exists at www.webdeveloper.com/forum/index.phpI'm providing this not because I want anyone to go and SPAM their forum with ads about Run BASIC. I do think that the right kind of helpful sharing or announcements about what and how you're doing with Run BASIC can draw the right kind of people to take a look at RB and our community here. So, how do members of the community feel about this? I'm eager to know. Thanks, -Carl

Certainly not the place to ask basic HTML and CSS questions!

Certainly not the place to ask basic HTML and CSS questions! I was trying to think of a way I can personally participate. From my own experience I have to be very careful how I present myself or I'll get flamed, or banned, or both. Probably I should consider asking for help there the next time I have an interesting RD related web development question. -Carl

I'll hang around, and look for a problem for which RB is a solution to consider. In the meantime, I've already picked up a couple of good tips on spam-protecting form-mails. ;D

Be relevant, though. The TOS has a long list of Don'ts -- no email addy, no real name, no links, no URLs, etc. For instance, someone referenced the nms project on Sourceforge by saying, "I'd use the nms formmail from sourceforge for that." No link, no URL....

Yeah, that was it, I'm sure. My mind gets swamped when I see too many "DO NOT" rules. My wife calls those "Dead Man rules". Even a dead man can follow them. Give me something with live alternatives to it. I'm just saying, "tread lightly". Effective communication is the eliciting of a desired response. It helps to be lovable. I oughta know!

I have not played with the password protection in RB or as a file server, so I can not reply. www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171725

Portion of the confirmation email I received from Webdeveloper.com post registration Seems Jerry truly did 'see' these rules.

Does it say no links or URLs? That would be a very crippled forum if it does. -Carl Couldn't find anything that prohibited the use of links. Did find a very stern warning regarding 'advertising' and url's. www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91359On the whole, I think the current course: read, study, participate, and recommend RB if and when appropriate, but never, never spam, would seem to fit the TOS intentions nicely.
