Carl, perhaps as you work on updates you could add the "Save As" feature instead of the simple save that we have today. As I make major modifications to programs I like to save them with an incrementing version number so it is easy to revert back if I really mess things up Right now I have to copy all the code, close the program without saving changes, open a new one, paste the code and then save under a new filename. That suggestion aside, RB is a great language. I'm an amateur but learning and having a great time.

If you have checked Save timestamped copies of BAS files: in the Preferences tab, every save will create a copy with the date and time appended to the file name. This setting is activated by default, so you should see multiple versions in the project's folder.

I also think a "Save As" feature would be handy. I was working on a program and decided I might want to try going off in a different direction and keep working on the current program. It seems reasonable that I should have been able to simply do a "Save As" to start a new project with the current code I was working on rather than cutting and pasting or copying and renaming files.

Thanks for the note Stefan.
I had read about that and the files are being saved in that order but I think I was looking for this more along the lines of what Microchip describes above. I tend to program along and when I decide to "try something" with the program or make any significant changes I always save them with a new version number and keep on rolling. If I don't like where I went, I just open up the previous file (usually 1.1 then 1.2 then 1.3, etc) and start over where I last left off.

That's the thing about those Object-Oriented languages -- all you have to do is add a button, and all the procedures and processes come along with it, so the job is done before you hardly even get started.

There, see?! I KNEW this stuff had to be easy to do. Otherwise, how could you do it so fast and so well? Man, if I just knew the right buttons to add....

Ah ah ... that's where I'm going wrong, I thought I had to write the code. Mike.
