Just on a whim, mainly cause I was bored and on Ubuntu, and not wanting to restart my computer, I tried running RBP in WINE. Works perfectly! Well, had to modify the prefs.xml file to point from 'c:\rbp' to 'z:\mnt\c\rbp', but once that was done, was perfect.

Okay, Chris, that does it! I'm off to install WINE on my Ubuntu boxes and ditch Win XP forever! Thanks!

I'll bet you can run RB Personal on a Mac, too -- at least, the newer ones. The WINE of the Mac world is Parallels Desktop. If my Mac has enough horsepower, I'll get to a broadband connection and try the free trial.

I suppose I should mention that I didn't install RBP on WINE; it most likely would've worked without the prefs.xml modification if I had, but I already had it on my Windows partition, and it didn't modify the registry, so I just ran it from there. That's why, instead of it being some virtualized 'C:\rbp' path, it was 'z:\mnt\c\rbp', because z:\ is Linux's filesystem and I mounted the NTFS partition at /mnt/c.
