I downloaded the Family Tree program and went thru the setup steps. When I try to execute it in RunBASIC, I get the message 'no such table: person' or at another time 'no such table:event'.
I tried it with ftree.sqlite3 in the rbp root directory (rbp on my machine is in the C:\ directory and not the C:\program files directory. Obviously, because others must have followed your setup without having reported a problem, there must be something fundamentally wrong in mine. Do have any idea what it might be. John

Sorry about that. I'm trying to close my old web host down. I now have my own host from my house. Go here: www.dkokenge.com/rbp/Any problems - let me know.

Very nice web site. Are you giving the site so that I should re-download the Family Tree zip? I haven't done that. I have followed your setup instructions to the letter , I think, three times and still get the same result: namely the error message no such table: event0This is what I have; - ftree_project directory in rbp root created by copying ftree.bas to RunBASIC and saving as project ftree.
- I copied the .jpg and .gif files to ftree_project.
- I moved ftree.sqlite3 to rbp root and ftree.help.htm to rbp\public
Where did I make a mistake? John

John.
Probably didn't make a mistake. Could be something I did wrong.
Yep! Go ahead and download ftree.zip again. I have made a lot of changes since I first wrote it.
Basically if you un-zip it into your ftree_project it should be ready to go. It places everything in the ftree_project directory. Even the database. It reads the database from the free_project directory. It is now called ftree.db and no longer ftree.sqlite3.
There is a file called ftree.htm in the ftree.zip. It should explain things.
I developed this with the new RunBasic Beta. That allowed me to set text input sizes. If you are not using the beta, you will need to comment out the set size commands. It's very simple and the ftree.htm should explain how to comment them out.
If you still have problems, let me know. I will then download and do a install and make user it's ok. It may be that I broke something.
Good luck.. Have a great day. Dan

I downloaded your latest and it works fine. I am a little confused with the different name types: I understand first, middle, and last, but the others I don't know about.
Thank you, John

I guess I better put that in the docs. For most systems you probably won't use most of it. However in the tree I have, there are over 27,000 names. And back in history they had different ways of describing their name. 1. First Name Prefix. - Dr, Mr, Ms. - Other strange older name. I hardly used this. 2. First name Suffix. - Things like Jr (Junior), Sr (Senior), II (the second) 3. Last Name Prefix.. - In Germany they use thing like Von, and Gusse. That way if you have a Von Jones, Gusse Jones, and Jones, if you seperate out the Von and Gusse, you can find all the Jones with a search of last name. Hope this helps.

When I display using tree 'F' then everyone in the tree is listed twice. What could cause this? I commented out all lines containing setid(len. Could this be the problem? Thanks, John
