OK...I know this is dumb, but I try running rbp either from windows or Command prompt and I get nothing. There is 10 seconds of activity but no console shows up. I get no error either. I'm running WINXP SP2. What am I missing?
Windows: "Start Run Basic Personal Server" no console/no error
Cmd Prompt: "RBP.exe rb.im" no console/no error

Odd. What version? Was it working before?
If you bring up the task manager do you see copies of rbp.exe running?

I see 8 versions running under processes in Task Manager. I ended them all. Restarted PC and retried. Same result. One rbp.exe process running but no console. Version is 1.0 build 2.33g.

Version is 1.0 build 2.33g. You are using RC3 of RBP, sorry, but we need more information. - What Windows version are you running on?
- What is the install location of RBP?
- Do you use a firewall and is RBP blocked by it?

I found that McAfee was blocking rbp.exe. I have the console. Thanks for the help.

I had experienced similar issues on Linux, but thought it was a Wine issue. It seems like RB is continuing to try and bind the port if it fails the first time. That's unexpected behavior, to say the least.

Just out of curiosity did this happen when RB was set up to use port 80, 8008, or something else?

Carl, the firewall information should be placed before "Starting Up" in the Quick Start Guide and it should not be limited to Windows Firewall.
A notice, that the firewall must be configured to allow RBP to run should be displayed directly after the installation.
