Hey Carl, One thing that I really love about RunBASIC is that it will eventually be cross platform. I believe right now you only currently have the windows servers running, one thing I have seen while I was working on my OpenGL DLL for LB is that java can use OpenGL. If Run BASIC could use OpenGL as well, I think that would really add a ton of potential for the types of sites you'd be able to make with the simple syntax of Run BASIC. Just a thought So far I haven't run into any problems I haven't seen already mentioned on this forum. Had a little trouble at first getting everything started but I got it running. Keep up the awesome work! Peace, Blair

I do not think that this will be an option, since Java needs the Runtime Environment on each computer to use OpenGL. RB will not install any add-ons on the client.

True, I forgot about the runtime engine Java uses. Oh well.

OpenGL in an HTTP application could be accomplished with a plugin, so perhaps it isn't out of the question for Run BASIC. However it isn't likely that we would be the provider of that plugin.

Maybe there could be a way so that programmers could create there own plugins for use with RB? Since LB5 is going to be cross platform maybe some way to program plugins in LB5 for use with RB is possible?

Since LB5 is going to be cross platform maybe some way to program plugins in LB5 for use with RB is possible? You can already create modules. Look at the multicounter example to see how multiple instances of a program can be embedded in a page. RB can do this without any help from LB. -Carl

I was thinking more along the lines of a program that would be running on the users machine so there could be a direct connection from the hardware on the users machine and the stuff running on RB. An example might be some way to create a file transfer program or maybe even something as complex as a remote desktop type thing. I realize that might be a bit far fetched but being able to make that connection I'm sure there are a lot of really cool things you could do.

Perhaps in the future this will change. -Carl

That'd be neat. I just saw a program that my friend downloaded onto his iTouch that makes it act like a remote for his desktops stereo system. Being able to to something like that would be really neat.
