Tester # 41093018497348 checking in.
Ok so I'm the new "kid" on the block so like what all do I need to get started? I am an avid BASIC programmer, mainly for my own use. I love LB because it has many more features to it than good old BASIC ever even dreamed of having.
From what I've read so far, run basic appears to be a cross between, basic, css, html, and perhaps even JS and PHP? Wow!
All the features of all the languages wrapped into one package? Cool.
So where and how do I get started?
Retirement gives me plenty of time to work with.

Hello, Rich.
I didn't know that Carl was inviting new testers. Nice to meet you.
Please have a look at the sticky posts on the beta test board. Carl has provided links and information on the latest beta release. Download it and install it in the root directory of your hard drive. Usually, that is "c:\" so you'll have a folder "c:\rbp\"
Report bugs, ask questions, make comments. Since Carl hopes to get this out the door before long, new features are not likely to be added until the first update of a public release.

Hello, Rich. I didn't know that Carl was inviting new testers. Nice to meet you. There have been some stragglers. I haven't posted any new invitations though. As Alyce mentions, install Run BASIC in c:\rbp (which is the default suggestion of the installer) instead of in the Program Files folder. This is because recent versions of Windows (Vista and maybe even some versions of XP with very recent updates) has been getting very overbearing in terms how it will let you write files and other such things. Installing in a root folder like \rbp allows Run BASIC to read and write as it requires. That's right. This is actually an excellent time for you to join in the beta testing since we need all the help we can get on the eve of the actual release. Thanks for joining up! -Carl

I came back to add this. It's good to test the documentation as well as RB itself. Report errors or omissions in the docs. (Make reports and queries about beta testing issues on the beta test board.)

Looks good to me and am ready to begin tinkering with it.
Just one thing, where do I get the actual program from? In all those links I saw nothing where to download it unless I missed the obvious.

In an earlier response, I directed you to the sticky post at the top of the beta test board. Are you unable to see that board? That's where we post about things specifically related to testing. The message with the download link is here: runbasic.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=beta&action=display&thread=1194650577If you cannot access the board, let us know.

I should also mention this. Only invited testers are meant to download RBP at this time. Please do not share the URL to this board or to the download for the program. Thanks!
