Interesting.. I have been looking into this. One of the problems with Run Basic is the lack of a managed DB. I'm not looking at it from the Smalltalk side, but from javascript. There is a complete library in JS that comes with the DB download. I've used many SQL systems including mySQL and had hopes that Run Basic would support it. Anyway, Like you, I've read some impressive things about it. It's pretty much bullet proof from what I read. Replication is simple, but not all that hard with SQL's like mySQL.
I'm in the transition of learning how to do business applications with it now, and am having problems understanding some of the concepts. I ordered a couchDB book from Amazon and hopefully in a few weeks will know if it indeed works for my applications.
But so far all the JS I've tried from Run Basic works.
Hope this helps.. Dan

The HTML I've tried seem to work. But only tried the basics.
I wanted the client side to work using JavaScript. This allows you to verify fields and do things like uploads.
It makes life easy on the server side. For example if you had a form with customer number, and item numbers, you can do a <input with a onChange trigger and look up the customer and items and display their descriptions or errors to the form. No need to look these up on the server side since they were verified on the client side.
Again using JS, you can upload stuff like images, documentation, music or whatever to the DB without intervention from the server side.
I will know more in a few weeks.
Have a great Christmas.. Dan
