I have tested Asian language string(unicode) in Run Basic. The result is failure: "This character is not supported by this class of string". Are there any text types that can handle Asian text? This is critical for me in developing Asian application - please help!

You would either have to change the content type of the entire document or add the character set to the objects, which are displaying text. See the HTML 4.01 Specification

Thanks Stefan,
It's been few days only that I started to learn Run Basic. Even it is Basic, started from early 70's, every system has its specific requirements. So, can you provide me an example/method, how to change entire document in Run Basic? Or, are there any method that I can start a program with specific html?
Currently, I am using free version for my investigation. Do I need retail version to do this?

The following seems to work. head "<META HTTP-EQUIV='Content-Type' CONTENT='text/html; charset=ISO-2022-JP'>"
html "水"
Some more links to resources about internationalization.

I think we have different ideas about the problem. First of all, definitely, your code works. Because it is a hex-decimal string. But, we often use Asian text in the code as an initial value or constant.
Maybe I need to state my problem in code: (This is not an issue in Liberty Basic, it accepts Asian string same as English text.) (The two statements are same in terms of meaning - you may see the second statement characters as square, since you may not have Asian font installed. in here it is Korean char)
input "Enter new name: ";n$ input "새로운 이름을 입력: ";n$
The second statement causes compiler error. (Please try the second statement then you will see the error message)
Happy Christmas Stefan!!

I can't type in any Asian language, but the Korean string is displayed correctly in the post.
I get the compiler error too, but I did not test if it works after changing my regional settings.
I think this is one for Carl, so I will move this to the bug reports.
