You need sendemail.exe and the params for calling gmail's smtp port. I'll get you set up later tonight, when I get back to the "office".

Neal, how do you provide the wiki syntax page? It's just a page like any other. To get you started, you can see the source of my wiki syntax page here.

Interesting, Alyce. How are you handling the "email password" thing? I'm not handling it. I've just started trying to understand the code. This is interesting stuff! All the registration email stuff is in userObject.bas. I'm not completely happen with the design of userObject... so if you want anything changed I'm open to suggestions

Alyce said I've made a start. I've installed it as is. The code is long and I've been away from RB for a while, so I'll have to spend some time understanding it before I can add or change anything.
As a runBasic wannabe it would be great if some of you clever people could provide extra comments in your code and even a small flow chart showing and explaining the logic and your thought processes in planning and creating code like this. Great work Neal, I marvel daily at the talent on this board and the Liberty Basic board. regards metro (Laurie)

A new version of RunWikiNG is out - mainly minor bug fixes, a change to the search function (still needs some work and some under the hood changes to support more plugins. Speaking of which, there are some new plugins... - A plugin to display Google AdSense ads
- A plugin to display the raw source of any wiki page
- A plugion to display YouTube videos

It evolved rather than was planned. Still I might try to squeeze a few more comments in one day...

I guess my problem is an inability to use the native email feature in RB. I've tried to implement it with gmail's info and with the info from my domain host. I can get neither to work (and yes, I've enabled IMAP.) I will give the sendmail app a try, but I stubbornly contend that I ought to be able to make the RB version work. Neal, I've no complaints with your userObject, nor any suggestions at this time.

Native RB email needs local mail service availability. Few people have mail servers running on their personal computers. We don't have it running on runbasicnet.com either, because of security considerations in a light-weight server setup. (Light-weight refers to depth of expertise of the admin )

(Light-weight refers to depth of expertise of the admin ) I clearly didn't understand that fact. The help for RB is below and I don't see an explanation that precludes using my domain's server or gmail.

I'm in way over my depth here, and may not understand the problem but a couple of years back I was using BLAT www.blat.net/ for sending emails from a DOS Point Of Sale App in my business. It may be of use!

Thanks, votan. Jerry has already pointed me to that thread and he's set up the app on my runbasicnet.com account. I was hoping to do it with the native email commands, but I'm having no luck. I may have to do it with the external app. Thanks very much.

You will not be able to send mail via GMail as it requires an encrypted connection (which RB does not support). Personally I run CommuniGate Pro (www.communigate.com) on my machine as my local mail server - the 5 user version is free and it runs on most operating systems. Alas, the setup of any mail system can be daunting if you don't do this sort of thing for a living

Neal, thanks. Jerry has set me up with sendemail.exe on runbasicnet.com and I've got that working. Now I can begin learning how you've created this incredible app!
